31. SMITH - TAKE A LOOK AROUND (Featuring a sample of 'AM GLORIAM' by LE ORME)
The group called Smith with the fit singer supply this B-side that sounds like the music on the snooker.
32. ALAN PRICE - SELL SELL SELL
Sell? Price? Still high on ripping off the rest of The Animals by copping all the profits from their biggest hit, Alan scores Part 2 of Lindsay Anderson's oddball trilogy featuring half-man half-pig experiments.
33. VAINICA DOBLE - QUIEN LE PONE EL CASCABEL AL GATO
Not an original copy of this hen's teeth Spanish acid-folk can be seen for miles. But Jiordi at Barcelona's very best vinyl emporium, Wah-Wah, luckily had the balls to re-issue it. Word-up.
34. TREES - STREETS OF DERRY
Largely due to Celia Humphrie's heartbreaking 'clear as an azure sky' vocal delivery, the band know as Trees begged comparison to that of Scotland's jazz-folk supergroup Pentangle. The title track on their debut LP 'The Garden of Jane Delawney' became a minor commercial classic when it appeared on a CBS budget compilation. But their follow up LP, complete with archetypal Hipgnosis photographic sleeve art, was a true testament of golden era progressive folk which exubed valour and grace throughout. Tracks like 'Streets Of Derry', 'Murdoch' and 'Sally On The Shore' demand repeated listens on account of their highly original songwriting.
35. AMON DUUL 2 - HALLUZINATION GUILLOTENE
The only difference I can decipher between Amon Duul 1 and Amon Duul 2 is that the latter could actually play their instruments. Probably why I prefer Amon Duul 1. The Yeti LP by AD 2 is of course an excellent Krautrock alternative to Hawkwind vs Ginger Baker's airforce (maybe).
36. ULTIMATE SPINACH - HIP DEATH GODDESS
Fifty Foot Hose, United States of America and... Ultimate Spinach.
37. SERGE GAINSBOURG - PAN PAN CUCUL
After recovering from his first heart attack Serge teamed up with British session men, such as Alan Hawkshaw, to record a bunch of songs about having a poo and wiping your bum. The LP 'Vu De l'Exterieur' also includes the wonderful ballade 'Je Suis Venu Te Dire Que Me'en Vais'.
38. EDDIE WARNER - GOLD SHOWER
As library-dudes go, Eddie Warner was one of the good'uns. This track is also taken from l'Illustration Musicale's 'Persuasive Percussions Volume 1'.
39. TRIBESMAN ASSAULT - HIGH TIMES
Brummy reggae album with a yellow sleeve and a fat break.
40. THE PEDDLERS - TELL THE WORLD WE'RE NOT IN
Manchester's finest cosmetic freak-beat, power-pop institution 'The Fall' probably don't remember the film 'Goodbye Gemini', but the remaining Peddlers probably do. Taken from a cute OST picture sleeve 7", this WD40-thirsty hammond organ thunderbolt sounds like Alan Partridge backed by Brian Auger and is available on various other cheap-ass formats if you keep your eagle-eyes peeled.
