Known to his friends - such as sidekick Del Shannon - as Max Crook, Maximillian was an electronics buff who invented his own keyboard using old TV tubes and other household items. the 'Musitron' organ was used to great effect on this Argentinian top ten hit 'The Snake'.
22. JACQUES DUTRONC - RESTAURANT
Am I alone in thinking Jacques Dutronc inadvertently introduced punk rock to France? J.D. was more of a shouter than a crooner and despite his 'Gerry Anderson' good looks I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't akin to kickin' a few drum skins through and smashing up the odd accordian after a night on the absinthe. This swamp-rock bass driven groover stands up next to ahost of superb Dutronc classics he made while taking time off from kanoodling with his mega-fit bird... Francoise Hardy.
23. THE HEADCOATEES - HAVE LOVE WILL TRAVEL
It only takes one girl band to cover this rockabilly classic and hey presto... you've got the definitive version.
24. (BEHOLD THE MIGHTY) CAN - PNOOM
The LP 'Can Delay 1968' was originally entitled 'Behold The Mighty Pnoom' so I suppose this minute-long Czukay edit was the title track. Can fans will appreciate the little known fact that it's actually 'linguistic space communicator' Malcolm Mooney that played those bugged-out reed instruments on the cut.
B-side only track to the 'La Pacha' OST 7" featuring 'Requiem Pour un Con'. A bit of a sister song to new-delire found on the even-rarer 'Manon 70' 45.
26. RICHARD DEMARIA - STUDIO 96
Wow, that clav is awesome, is this some rare out-take from 'Planete Savage'? Or is it an unheard J.C. Vannier track from from the Cannabis soundtrack? Nope... it's a library album.
27. SERGE GAINSBOURG - DANGER
Is this a rare J.C. Vannier track from the 'Cannabis' soundtrack? Yes it is.
28. GOBLIN - SNIP SNAP
The band known as 'Goblin' really just wanted to be an avant-prog sports-keyboard cross-dressing symphonic-rock group, but Italian film directors kept opening the cheque-books and asking for soundtracks. This is a funky 7" from their scarce non-OST LP 'Roller'. Plenty of Italian film buffs are still struggling to find a film of the same title.
